Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jonathan. He was six years old and had recently started primary school. Everything was new to him, and he had to get used to his new classmates. The children and the teacher were kind to him, but one classmate, Theodore, always wanted Jonathan to notice him.
Theodore was very talkative and loved making jokes. He often followed Jonathan around, and when Jonathan did not pay attention to him or did not want to play, Theodore would pester and provoke him. The teacher did not notice it, and Jonathan did not know how to deal with the situation.

One evening, Jonathan’s mother tucked him into bed and read him a bedtime story. Jonathan fell asleep, and an elf named Ace appeared in his dream. The elf sensed that the boy was troubled by a problem with a classmate and wanted to help him.
“Why don’t you talk to him?” asked the elf.
“He’s too annoying,” Jonathan replied. “He keeps running after me and wants to play with me, but I don’t want to.”
“Maybe he just wants to be your friend,” said the elf. “Try getting to know him better.”
Jonathan smiled at the elf. “I’ll take your advice,” he said.
So Jonathan woke up the next morning with a new idea. On his way to school, he spoke to Theodore:
“Hi, Theodore, would you like to have lunch with me?”
Theodore was surprised, but he agreed. Over lunch, they talked, and Jonathan learned that Theodore was an only child and was already at his third school. His family moved often because his parents worked on special projects. Theodore had no friends and felt lonely.
Then Jonathan understood why Theodore had behaved that way and what had led him to do it. They began to get along, and they have been best friends ever since. Together, they have many adventures.
