S jemným úsmevom si skladala z kamienkov malý kruh a potichu sa rozprávala sama so sebou, akoby nechcela rušiť les.
„Tu bude mostík pre chrobáčika,“ zašepkala Lili a naklonila hlavu.
Vtom si v hebkom machu pri chodníčku všimla niečo zvláštne. Medzi zelenými vankúšikmi ležalo niečo malé a tmavé. Lili sa najprv len pozerala. Potom sa zohla bližšie.
„Aha,“ povedala potichu. „To je lampášik?“
Bol to naozaj malý lampášik, ale nesvietil. Nepôsobil smutne. Len akoby spal. Lili si k nemu kľakla a opatrne ho vzala do dlaní. Bol ľahučký a hladký, s maličkým uchom navrchu.
Oči mal veľké a milé.
„Ahoj,“ povedal.
No počúvala pozorne. A keď počúvala, cítila sa odvážnejšia.
„Tak si ho môžeme spolu prezrieť,“ navrhla ticho.
Svetlík sa pousmial. „To by bolo veľmi dobré.“
Obaja boli ticho. Nielen ústami, ale aj rukami a nohami. Všetko okolo nich bolo mäkké a pokojné.
A vtedy sa niečo stalo.
Najprv sa vnútri lampášika objavila malá bodka svetla. Potom ďalšia. A potom sa z nich zrodilo jemné teplé žiarenie. Nebol to silný záblesk.
„On sa zobudil,“ povedal s úsmevom.
Lampášik žiaril tichučko a krásne. Všetko vyzeralo jemne a milo.
„Ďakujem, Lili,“ povedal Svetlík. „Bez teba by som si možno nespomenul.“
Bolo to len ďalšie malé tajomstvo.
„Môžeme sa naň pozrieť zajtra,“ navrhla.
„Áno,“ súhlasil Svetlík. „Zajtra je dobrý deň na nové objavy.“
Lili sa usmiala. Vstala a oprášila si kolená. Lampášik nechali svietiť v machu ešte chvíľu, aby si oddýchol. Potom sa pomaly vydala domov pozdĺž chodníčka. Jej kroky boli ľahké a tiché.
A les si spokojne šepkal ďalej, ticho a láskavo, až do ďalšieho dňa.

The Forest of Little Lights, part 1: The Lantern in the Moss
The Story Begins
At the edge of the magic forest, the morning was quiet and soft like moss. Lily sat there on the path between pinecones and small leaves. She wore her soft green raincoat, tiny yellow boots, and a small leaf-shaped bag at her side. With a gentle smile, she was making a little ring from stones and talking softly to herself, as if she did not want to disturb the forest.
"This will be a little bridge for a beetle," Lily whispered, and tilted her head.
Then she noticed something strange in the soft moss by the path. Between the green cushions, something small and dark was lying there. At first, Lily only looked. After that, she leaned closer.
"Oh," she said quietly. "Is that a little lantern?"
It really was a tiny lantern, but it did not shine. It did not look sad. It only seemed to be sleeping. Lily knelt beside it and carefully took it into her hands. It was very light and smooth, with a tiny handle on top.
"Don't worry," she whispered. "I'll look at it."
The lantern was completely dark.
"But it is not broken," Lily said after a while, as if she wanted to make sure for herself. "It is just quiet."
Suddenly, a tiny round face peeked out from a small opening in the lantern. It was a little glowing creature with a golden light on its body, a leaf hat, and tiny clear wings. Its eyes were big and kind.
"Hello," he said. "I am Glimmer."
Lily felt a little scared, only a little, but right away she smiled. There was nothing frightening about him. Glimmer was only small and sleepy, as if he had just woken up.
"Hello," said Lily. "I am Lily. Are you all right?"
Glimmer scratched his leaf hat and thought for a moment.
"I think so," he said slowly. "I just do not remember why the lantern went out. There was moss. Then pinecones. Then… hmm… maybe I forgot myself for a moment."
Lily nodded. She was a little shy when she met someone new. But she listened carefully. And when she listened, she felt braver.
"Then we can look at it together," she suggested softly.
Glimmer smiled. "That would be very good."
Lily put the lantern on the soft moss by the path. Then she took a thin leaf from her little bag. She had found it nearby. It was clean and springy.
"We can gently wipe the moss off with this," she said.
"Great idea!" Glimmer cried, and his body glowed a little brighter.
But first, they did nothing quickly. They only sat next to the lantern. The moss under them was soft like a pillow. The air smelled of earth, leaves, and the cool morning. Lily held the leaf like a soft cloth and very carefully brushed it along the edge of the lantern.
"Here?" she asked.
"Yes, right there," Glimmer nodded.
Together they gently brushed away little pieces of moss. Then Lily blew off a tiny petal that had caught on top. They did everything slowly. They were in no hurry.
"It is so calm," said Lily.
"Yes," Glimmer agreed. "Light does not like to wake up in a hurry."
Lily looked at him and smiled. She did not feel so shy anymore. Helping was easier than she had thought. She only had to ask and be gentle.
When the lantern was clean, it looked prettier. Still, it did not shine.
Glimmer frowned just a little, but not sadly. He looked thoughtful.
"Now I remember," he said. "I was in a hurry, and I left the lantern in the moss without caring for it. Maybe because of that, it got tired and went out."
When Things Start to Change
Lily nodded. "Oh. So it is not broken. It only needed rest."
"Exactly," said Glimmer with relief.
Then Lily suggested, "Let's sit very quietly for a little while."
Glimmer sat down beside the lantern. Lily sat too. They were both quiet. Not only with their mouths, but also with their hands and feet. Everything around them was soft and peaceful.
And then something happened.
First, a tiny dot of light appeared inside the lantern. Then another. And then they became a gentle, warm glow. It was not a big flash. It was only a soft beam, slowly spreading out, like morning sun on the grass.
"Look!" whispered Lily.
Glimmer's eyes lit up. His body glowed a little warmer than before.
"He woke up," he said with a smile.
The lantern shone quietly and beautifully. Not too much. Just enough. The light touched the moss, the pinecones, and Lily's yellow boots. Everything looked soft and kind.
"Thank you, Lily," said Glimmer. "Without you, I might not have remembered."
Lily blushed with joy. "I only helped a tiny bit."
"Even a tiny bit is big," Glimmer said seriously, but with a smile.
Lily kept those words in her heart like a little warm ball. She felt braver. Not because she was not shy anymore. But because when she helped someone, the shyness became smaller.
For a while, they sat by the glowing lantern. Then Lily подняла her head.
"Listen," she said. "By that stump in the moss… do you see something small?"
Glimmer looked around. His little light trembled softly, as if his eyes were peeking around a corner.
"I do," he said quietly. "A small forest sign. It is just standing there. Maybe it is waiting for help too."
Lily looked at it. It was not a challenge she had to fear at once. It was only another little mystery.
"We can look at it tomorrow," she suggested.
"Yes," Glimmer agreed. "Tomorrow is a good day for new discoveries."
Lily smiled. She stood up and brushed off her knees. They left the lantern shining in the moss for a little while longer so it could rest. Then she slowly went home along the path. Her steps were light and quiet.
On the way, she kept saying the day to herself in her mind: a dark lantern does not mean broken. Help can be small. And when you help someone, your heart feels warmer.
Behind her, Glimmer stayed by the lantern and smiled at the soft forest. A little light shone in the moss, and by the old stump, another tiny sign waited, still without an answer.
And the forest went on whispering happily, quiet and kind, until the next day.
To be continued…
