Chlapec si chcel hneď prehodiť batoh cez plece a vyraziť.

Cesta k stanici viedla cez tichší okraj mesta. Budovy boli nižšie, ulice prázdnejšie a nad strechami sa pomaly hýbali malé servisné drony. O chvíľu sa pred nimi objavil kovový komplex so sivými stenami a úzkymi oknami.

„Rozumieme,“ odpovedala Ami. „Budeme dávať pozor.“

Vo vnútri bolo chladno a ticho.

POSTUPUJTE SPOLU.

Robo si prekrížil ruky. „To znie ako výzva.“

„Presne tak,“ povedala Ami. „A nie ako miesto na unáhlené klikanie.“

Na prvom paneli bol kompas so šípkami smeru. Druhý ukazoval časový kód s blikajúcimi číslami. Tretí zobrazoval starú mapu hviezdnych uzlov, ale jej línie boli roztrhané a nejasné.

Skúška spolupráce

„Úloha jedna,“ prečítal Pip a otočil sa ku konzole. „Zhodnotiť smer.“

„Úloha dva,“ doplnila Ami, „porovnať čas.“

„Úloha tri,“ dodal Robo, „uhádnuť, čo s tým máme robiť?“

Ami sa pousmiala. „Skôr zistiť, čo s tým robiť správne.“

Chlapec pristúpil k panelu so smerom a zodvihol ruku.

Musíme to najprv porovnať.“

„Dobre. Tak čo navrhuješ?“

Ami sa naklonila k mapovej konzole a pustila krátky analyzačný režim. Na displeji sa zobrazili tri vrstvy údajov. Jedna bola stará, druhá pochádzala zo siete stanice a tretia sa zhodovala s mapou zo starej družice, ktorú tím objavil už predtým.

„Tu je problém,“ povedala. „Nie všetko, čo bliká, je správne. Vidíme aj ozvenu starej poruchy. Preto musíme overiť údaje medzi sebou.“

Pip sa otočil k časovému kódu. Jeho malé bočné plutvičky sa rozžiarili a on začal veľmi presne porovnávať čísla. „Zachytená odchýlka tri desatiny sekundy. Nie chyba. Len starý záznam sa opakuje.“

„Výborne,“ pochválila ho Ami. „Ty sleduj čas. Ja skontrolujem mapu. Robo, ty by si mohol porovnať smerový panel s tým, čo ukazuje hlavná konzola.“

Rytmus v hluku

„Vedeli sme to!“

„Vedeli sme to spoločne,“ pripomenula Ami.

Pip vydal spokojné pípnutie, akoby súhlasil so všetkým naraz.

„Nie! Už je to pokazené?“

„Nie úplne,“ ozval sa Pip rýchlo. Jeho oči prebehli po obrazovkách. „V hluku je rytmus.“

„Aký rytmus?“ spýtal sa Robo.

Malý robot sa otočil ku konkrétnemu panelu. V bielom šume sa naozaj opakoval pravidelný impulz. Raz, raz, pauza. Raz, raz, pauza.

„Naozaj?“

Robo si ho opatrne zobral do rúk. Nebol to cieľ.

Nový kľúč si uložte a použite ho až vtedy, keď budete mať overené ďalšie údaje.“

„Rozumiem,“ povedala Ami.

„Aj ja,“ dodal Robo. A tentoraz to myslel úprimne.

„A preto musíme ísť ďalej správne,“ povedala Ami.

No teraz mali aspoň prvý skutočný kľúč a vedeli, že ho našli správnym spôsobom.

Robo and the Lost Planet, part 6: The Key from the Silent Station

A Clue on the Changing Map

A new sign flashed on the holographic map in the center of the city. At first it looked like a small square with a thin line, but then it slowly turned and changed color from blue to silver. Robo reached out toward it at once.

"That’s it!" he shouted excitedly. "A new clue!"

Ami pushed her AR glasses higher on her nose and leaned closer to the map. "Wait. That sign appeared only after the map data matched the old satellite. It is not just a coincidence."

Pip floated a little higher. His LED eyes blinked once, then twice, and then glowed a soft blue. "I am catching a rhythm," he said, exactly as he always did when something important was hidden in the data. "A repeat. A regular pattern. Something is calling."

The city around them kept busy, but near the map everything suddenly felt quieter. The holographic sign pointed to the edge of the city, where an old research station stood. Captain Lyra, who was watching them through a safe communication channel, spoke calmly. "If you go there, be careful. That station is old, but its systems may still be active."

Robo smiled. "An old station? That sounds like a place where a great treasure is hiding!"

"Or a mistake in the data," Ami added. "And sometimes that is more important than treasure."

The Silent Station on the City Edge

The boy wanted to throw his backpack over his shoulder and go right away. But today he did not know yet that this moment would teach him to slow down.

The road to the station led through a quieter part of the city. The buildings were lower, the streets were emptier, and small service drones moved slowly above the roofs. After a while, a metal complex appeared in front of them, with gray walls and narrow windows. It looked futuristic, but also deserted. Still, it did not feel scary. It felt more like a place that was waiting for someone to listen again.

The station doors were open just a little bit. Soft white light showed from inside. Above the entrance, an old sign blinked: RESEARCH NODE 4.

"We’re here," Ami whispered.

"And this is exactly the moment when we should go inside very, very quickly," Robo whispered back, though only half as a joke.

Pip turned to him and made a short electronic grumble. "Speed is not always accuracy."

Robo rolled his eyes, but he smiled. "You are very clever today."

Just then, Captain Lyra’s voice came through the communication link. "Inside, you will need teamwork. This station was once part of a network of learning and research nodes. Without the right order, the system will not let you go further."

A Test of Cooperation

"We understand," Ami answered. "We will be careful."

Inside, it was cold and quiet. Not in an unpleasant way. More like a library where no one had argued for years. The walls were covered with panels, and thin light lines ran through the floor. At the end of the corridor, they entered a room with three large panels and one map console in the center. At first, it looked simple. But as soon as they stepped in, the security system gave a soft beep behind them, and the room lit up a little brighter.

On the main screen, words appeared: VERIFY DATA. MOVE TOGETHER.

Robo crossed his arms. "That sounds like a challenge."

"Exactly," said Ami. "And not like a place for rushing and random clicking."

On the first panel there was a compass with direction arrows. The second showed a time code with blinking numbers. The third displayed an old map of star nodes, but its lines were torn and unclear.

"Task one," Pip read, turning toward the console. "Check direction."

"Task two," Ami continued, "compare time."

"Task three," Robo said, "guess what we are supposed to do with it?"

Ami gave a small smile. "More like find out what to do correctly."

He stepped up to the direction panel and raised his hand. He was about to press the first button, the one glowing blue. But the girl gently caught his wrist.

A Rhythm in the Noise

"Wait," she said calmly. "If you press the wrong data, the system may start the wrong path. We need to compare everything first."

Robo frowned. He was not used to slowing down when he felt the answer was already close. Still, he took a step back. "Okay. So what do you suggest?"

Ami leaned over the map console and started a short analysis mode. Three layers of data appeared on the screen. One was old, one came from the station network, and one matched the map from the old satellite that the team had found earlier.

"Here is the problem," she said. "Not everything that flashes is right. We also see an echo from an old error. That is why we must check the data against itself."

Pip turned toward the time code. His tiny side fins lit up, and he began to compare the numbers very carefully. "A deviation of three tenths of a second detected. Not an error. Just an old record repeating."

"Great," Ami praised him. "You watch the time. I will check the map. Robo, you can compare the direction panel with what the main console shows."

"So I finally have a job," said Robo, feeling relieved.

"You have an important job," she corrected.

The team split their tasks. The little robot buzzed softly near the time code, the girl projected map layers through her glasses, and the boy focused on the direction arrows. On the wall, thin bands of light appeared and reacted to their correct steps. First one. Then a second. Finally, all three panels lit up in steady blue-green light.

The Coordinate Key

A deep but pleasant tone sounded. The console in the middle of the room opened like a metal flower.

"Yes!" Robo shouted. "We knew it!"

"We knew it together," Ami reminded him.

Pip made a happy beep, as if he agreed with everything at once.

But right then the room trembled for a moment. The screens began to hiss, and messy data appeared on the displays. Numbers mixed together, lines broke apart, and the map turned into a bright tangle. Robo gasped sharply.

"No! Is it broken now?"

"Not completely," Pip said quickly. His eyes scanned the screens. "There is a rhythm inside the noise."

"What rhythm?" Robo asked.

The small robot turned toward one particular panel. In the white static, a regular pulse really was repeating. Once, once, pause. Once, once, pause. It was not easy to see at first, but once someone noticed it, it could not be missed.

Ami pushed her glasses more firmly into place. "Wait… Pip is right. That is not just a malfunction. It is a pattern."

She linked the rhythm data with the direction map, and a holographic line unfolded in the air in front of them. It curved, stopped, and then stretched into a precise shape. From the unclear noise, a map sign appeared. Clear. Repeated. Important.

"That is a signal from Niva-7," she whispered.

A New Lead, a New Question

Robo leaned forward. "Really?"

"Yes," she said softly. "And it is not random. It is a repeated pattern. As if someone or something is sending a call… or a просьba for help."

On the main screen, the old station archive opened. While the noise slowly calmed down, a side compartment slid out a panel that had not been visible before. Inside was a small coordinate module. Thin lines glowed on its surface, and numbers changed gently until they stayed in one fixed place.

"That is the key," Pip said exactly. "A coordinate key."

Robo carefully took it in his hands. On his wrist device, a new point appeared on the map. It was not the destination. It was the direction. More precise than anything they had had before.

"So now we know where to move," he said, with admiration in his voice.

"And we also know that we should not read the map only with our eyes," Ami added. "We must check it."

Captain Lyra’s voice came through the communicator again. "Excellent. Your work was precise and safe. The station has informed me that you passed the check and gained access to the next layer of data."

"And our reward?" Robo asked.

For a moment, there was silence. Then an old message appeared on the screen. It held a few lines, probably written long ago by the scientists from the station. They wrote about a network of nodes that connected schools, labs, and databanks through safe data bridges. Between the lines was a note about Niva-7. About a planet marked as lost in the records, but whose signals still returned.

The Last Clue

"That means the station was part of a much larger network," Ami said. "And Niva-7 must have connected with it long ago."

"But why does it keep sending the same pattern?" Robo muttered.

No one answered right away. Even Pip floated quietly in the air, and his eyes shone thoughtfully.

Captain Lyra spoke again, this time in a warmer tone. "Team, you did good work. Now you may continue under supervision. But do not be tempted by shortcuts. Save the new key and use it only when you have checked more data."

"Understood," said Ami.

"Me too," Robo added. And this time he meant it.

Then all three moved to the station’s departure platform. Below them, the city spread out like a net of small lights. Above their heads, the afternoon was slowly closing in, and the air was calm. At a safe distance, the new holographic point still floated on their map. It sparkled as if calling them onward.

Robo put his hands in his pockets and looked at the new clue. "So this is only the first key."

"The first real key," Ami corrected, but her smile showed that she was just as excited as he was.

Pip turned toward the sky. Suddenly, he caught one last weak pulse. It was short, but clear. The same rhythm as before, only weaker. As if someone were trying to knock one more time before the connection was lost.

The Last Clue

"Final flash," he said.

Ami looked toward the place where the signal had come from. "This is not just technical noise. It looks like a call for help."

Robo nodded slowly. Now he no longer hurried. The pieces in his mind were finally fitting together. "Maybe we have been looking at the planet like a puzzle all these days. But something on Niva-7 really needs us."

"And that is why we must go on the right way," Ami said.

The boy looked at her, then at Pip’s glowing front panel. "Okay. No shortcuts."

The little robot wiggled gently, as if proud of his crew. "No shortcuts," he repeated.

As the three of them walked back from the platform into the city, the new coordinate key glowed in Robo’s wrist device like the first solid direction in a huge mystery. The road ahead was still long and unclear, but now they did not have only a random map. They had better data, stronger trust in one another, and one big question that pushed them forward.

Who, or what, is sending the repeated signal from Niva-7?

And why does it seem more important than everything else?

They would have to wait for the answer. But now they at least had the first real key, and they knew they had found it the right way.

To be continued…
